Hello.
I am seriously considering the Fusion but first let me explain how I use my keyboard right now. I am a bass player in a 3 piece band and use a set of Roland PK-5 footpedals to trigger notes on my Roland GW-7. I use a distorted guitar playing 5ths patch alot as well as string octaves to fill out the sound of our band. Mostly background stuff but it does fill in a good bit.
I am not much of a keyboard player (yet) but I started lessons. I don't actually play anything on the keyboard right now per se but we are planning on a couple slow songs as soon as I can get my right and left hands to work.
I mostly chose the GW-7 because of it's ability to play back MIDI files and the quick recall of favorite patches live. It does excell at this and the sounds are pretty good. Problem is my band is dead set against playing to MIDI files so this feature is moot.
I can trade back my GW-7 and pay alittle extra to pick up the fusion plus get the pair of studio monitors. Thinking that the Fusion will actually allow me to do much more when I start actually playing the keyboard.
Main question is... would I be able to trigger the fusion to play chords (5ths) using the PK-5? The PK-5 transmits on only one MIDI channel that you set and right now I am using ch. 4 to trigger the main sound of the GW-7. I noticed one of the Hollow Sun packs has a guitar doing 5ths and was wondering if I can do this with all the sounds.

Hi Vlad, I imagine Fusion can do what you want but have you also considered the Akai UNIBASS pedal? This is quite a neat pedal designed almost specifically for 3-piece bands so that the bassist can create distorted guitar sounds (in 5ths and octaves) when the guitarist takes a solo, whatever. I am not sure that they are made any more but you could pick one up second-hand I imagine. Do a Google for Akai UB1 Unibass.
