Well the title says it all.. calling all Fusion owners for advice.
While loading the voice engines an error message appears saying: Error Voice Engine 2 Failed to Load! Failed Reset Handshake #2 Error Code 0x02071003
it has an OK button next to a soft button on the right, but nothing happens when I hit the soft button.
I mean, how shitty is this.. I need help please?!?!?

IS this EVERYTIME you turn on the Fusion?
Have you ever gotten it to finish loading up initially? That is has it ever gotten to where you could attempt to select a patch (program) and is this when you get the error.
If every time, or everytiem you try and select a patch then it might not hurt to reload OS – but you need a CF card to do this and the current OS is at Alesis web site with instructions. It's easy to do but you do need a compact flash card of at least 64MBs

The fusion never fully initializes. I gives me that error or a similar one every time. Something about Handshakes. I have been advised on another forum to try updating the OS, but I don't have a CF card. I'll have to pick one up and give that a try tomorrow. thanks for the reply, though.

Take it back, get another one - it's a hardware problem (possibly a dodgy connection, possibly something else).

It was purchased used on eBay so I guess I'll just be out the cost of repair at a local shop. I'll probably just save up and get the memory upgrade installed at the same time.

64 meg is too small, the image won't fit on it.

Oh and you probably got a motherboard issue, they changed mine for a similar error - if not the same.

64 meg is too small, the image won't fit on it. Yep Bazz is right (that's what happens when I do something from MY faulty memory" The OS is 65+ MBs so need at least 128MB CF However, before doom and gloom sets in – I would still try a “reset” and also a fresh OS install. You may still want to have it “worked on” for memory upgrade anyway but wouldn’t you like to know it really is SNAFU’ed before sending it in for repairs? In any case - I wish you the best with getting it up and running SOON Larry

well, I got a 256 mb CF card, did the OS reinstall but still received the same error message. Does this mean it is definitely a hardware issue? I hope that's not the case, but I suppose you do take a chance when you buy on ebay. This brings me to another question. Although the thing is pretty heavy and seems like a tank, is it even going to be reliable enough for live gigging and touring?

Yes, it's a hardware issue. The most likely interpretation of that message is that the central CPU can't reliably talk to one of the DSPs - which could be as simple to fix as a loose connection between the DSP boards or a dry solder joint, or as nasty as one of the DSPs or their memory being bad... but none of those things can be solved by reinstalling an OS.
This is the message that started appearing before my Fusion gave up the ghost. I tended to leave it on permanently, but if I turned it off for any length of time and let it cool down, when I next tried to turn it on I'd get this message until it had warmed up. So next time the message appears, try leaving your Fusion powered on for 15 minutes and then resetting it. If that message still comes up, there's a permanent break in there; if it doesn't, then it might well mean something in there is generating rather too much heat.
But either way, take it to a repair shop. Or if you have any kind of protection via eBay, take it up with them; unless you know it was working fine before it left the other guy's place, he dumped on you.
