I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks and ordered a Fusion 8HD on Friday... Fedex should be delivering it either tomorrow or Wednesday.
Can't wait to try it out and start my transformation into an 80's synth god / classical pianist / sound designer. ;D

80's Synth God? Don't forget your spangly cape then. Or was that the 70's? Welcome to the Club!

Yeah, no 70's spangly cape for me! Although I'm not sure I'd want to grow enough hair to get that 80's look either. Maybe I could go for the Amadeus movie version of Mozart instead: And cheers for the Howard Jones photo... I read an interview with him in a keyboard magazine long ago where he talked about the types of sounds he sampled for the album "Cross That Line". He wanted it to sound "human" so did things like sample the sound of flicking one of his fingernails to use as percussion. I thought that was the coolest thing ever so bought the cassette tape. I liked the concept of sampling different types of sounds that could occur naturally to give a song/album a certain feel. One of the reasons I decided on a Fusion over other keyboards is because of it's sampling capabilities - so I can create unique sounds like that.

I've been lurking here for a week, and ordered my Fusion 6HD on a Wednesday, and expect it on a Friday... I'm also looking to master the 80's sounds (and 90's industrial), improve the classical pianist in me, and be a niche sound designer... I also hail from Orlando (Maitland), Florida.... That's almost as many coincidences as the Lincoln/Kennedy connections... Anyhow, hello all, looking forward to some good times rolling up the sleeves and getting into my Fusion.

I've been enjoying my fusion and am still learning a lot (and probably will be for a long time to come). Let us know how you like yours when you get it. Maybe we could start an Orlando "Alesis Fusion users group"... there have to be at least one or two others of us out there. ;D

Sure, sign me up, fewshun. That's at least two Orlando Fusioneers now. Anyone else near?
mps --
If you're gonna swing by Orlando, there's a couple SamAsh's, a Guitar Center, and some other big music stores in the area. As far as Cocoa Beach (45-60 minutes away), it's been awhile since I've been there, but there are some smaller established stores along the couple main drags (A1A and US1). You could probably go to the big Ron Jon's Surfshop and ask some of the local surfer/salespeople, and they could point you in the right direction. Don't forget that Melbourne, Satellite, and Indian Harbor Beach are just a couple minutes away, and they have music stores as well. Daytona Beach may be more well-known, but I don't recall seeing very many music stores there. The stores more south of Cocoa have been around for awhile, but are smaller businesses and some of them are well-stocked. In Orlando you'll find more of the big chain stores.
Have fun while you're down, looks like the weather will be a little nipply for Floridians, but fairly clear and sunny for you tourist types =)

Thanks for the info. I expect that the temperature will be fine when you factor in that it was 14 degrees (F) when I got up this morning. Anything above 42 will be shorts, T-shirts and sandals for me. I hope to encounter a lobster on this trip and expect it to end poorly, for the lobster!

Rod - you're a bloody wimp S'gonna be -5 or less (more?) tonight in parts of Wales around here. It's certainly a bit chilly - I might put a T-shirt on But that is nothing compared with a friend of mine in Russia who is reporting -30 ... at midday!
