Well, to be honest, this is a very lazy request. I'm looking over page 17 of the Alesis Analog Synthesis Tutorial PDF and it says how a ring modulator was used to do Dalek voice effects in the TV series Doctor Who. Now, I've barely even powered on my Alesis long enough to upgrade the firmware -- I keep meaning to spend some quality time with it, maybe with the holidays -- but I wonder if anyone who's familar with working with the analog synth in the Fusion can work up a patch to post which implements what the author of the PDF describes. One of the few times I powered up the Alesis and hooked up a mic to an input, I did at least make some progress, but I know I'm still doing something wrong. Anyone wanna give me some instant gratification and post a patch?

Well, to be honest, this is a very lazy request. I'm looking over page 17 of the Alesis Analog Synthesis Tutorial PDF and it says how a ring modulator was used to do Dalek voice effects in the TV series Doctor Who. This is possible and I've done such a patch myself - I'll see if I can dig it out and post it up. Basically, you want to use one of the oscillators as an external sound source. Ok..... * Create a new program (EDIT > UTILITY > NEW PROG) * Select a square wave on OSC1 * In OSC 2, select EXT IN * In CONFIG, switch RING MOD : ON and select TYPE : OSC1 x OSC 2 Done! Except.... To hear the sound/effect, you need to play a note (to open the envelopes) and, of course, you need to have a mic attached to the sample inputs and need to be speaking into it. You can now mess around with the frequency of OSC1 and the various filter and envelope and effects settings. You can hear the results here: www.hollowsun.com/hs_demo/dalek.mp3 Steve
