I love playing with the pitch bender in my solos and the first time I got in the Fusion's menus, I was quite disappointed since the only setting for this controller is "range"...
On my Z1, bend up and bend down are separated, and for each one you can set the range and steps. This is usefull to simulate glissandos on fretted instruments.
Now this is my trick to get such effects on the Fusion (I'll try to explain it in English) :
- in program editing, go to Program / Pitch and set the pitch bend range to 0
- now create a new modulation, with pitch wheel modulating pitch. Set the value to the highest bender range you want to use (e.g. 12% for a +/- 12 semitones bend)
(at this point you've got the same effect as if you've set a 12 semitones bender range in Pitch page)
- in the modulation settings, go to Shape and create a new table. Here, you can see that the bender action is linear. If you move the left point up and down, you'll only change the bend down range. Same thing with the right point and the bend up range
- if you want a "fretted bend", set the shape type to "step", and create as many steps as you need to create a stairs-shaped curve. E.g. step 1 (position -100, value -100), step 2 (pos. -90 val -90), step 3 (pos. -80, val. -80) etc. until 0 will create a 1 octave bend down divided into 10 "frets". Same for upper bend
Curve editor is a very powerfull function, you can imagine crazy modulations with it :-)

Nice tip!! I've been wondering how to do that for the odd accasion I want to be silly with the pitch bend (it is nice to go up 2 semis and down 12 sometimes). Thanks Steve

Thanks for the tip, deweak ! Your post also helps me understand how tables work in Fusion.

Indeed, using tables is very powerful in the Fusion - I have also done crazy things using e.g. LFO's in combination with tables.

Yep. Another thing about bender curves : nothing disallows to create two different bender control mods and to toggle between a or b with S1 or S2. With that, you can use a standard +/- 2 semitones bender for some parts of your solo and quickly get a 1 octave bend with steps... Fusion => no limits in modulations !

I have been looking for this answer re: the pitch bend (down an octave, up 2 semi tones) for a while. Even stumped Alesis with it. Your awsome!
Just wanted to extend a huge THANKS! ;D
