Hey guys.
First and foremost, a very merry christmas.
I awoke this morning to find a brand new Fusion 6HD under my tree. I plugged it in and everything was great.
I have came across a niggling fault however. I went into the Item Explorer, to arrange the banks, i selected arrange, and suddenly the third soft key from the top on the right hand side of the screen didn't work. The "next" button around the rotary encoder stopped working as well. However, i doubt it is the contacts as both buttons make the pitch and mod wheel light up when i press them, and they distort whatever sound I am playing.
I left the Fusion alone, and the buttons started working after leaving it off for a period of time. This isn't always the most pratical thing.
The problem has now appeared again, and will not go away. I have tried diagnostic mode but the softkey and the next key still do not work.
I have OSv1.23. I have reinstalled this, reset the Fusion to factory defaults and even formatted the hard disc.
Any help/ideas on how it could be fixed?
Thanks, Bobby.
Ps. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Does installing v1.24 of the OS improve matters? (You said in the Fusionzone forum that you have OS v1.24, though... is v1.23 a typo here?)
Also in the Fusionzone forum, you say that diagnostic mode reported them as not working. That strongly suggests a hardware fault.
Do the buttons start off working but then stop once the machine has been turned on for a few minutes? If so, that suggests something that's being provoked by a heat build-up (I don't know enough about hardware to speculate on what) - again, that's indicative of a hardware fault.
(Random question time: What's the ambient temperature where your Fusion is?)
So the bad news is that it's a hardware fault. The good(-ish) news is that because of that, there's no reason why you can't continue to familiarise yourself with the instrument as best you can, but still get it swapped for another one on December 27. Just don't open it, or do anything else to risk your warranty. (Or, er, paint lacquer on the buttons...)

Thanks for the reply It is v1.23. I thought I had installed 1.24 but I need a CF Card to update. Essentially, the buttons worked, then stopped working as soon as i hit the arrange function. The buttons then went on to work. When i used the arrange function again, at first it worked, but on a second try they played up again. I've sent an email off to Alesis support too. I may have a bit of trouble taking it back, seeing that it was an X-mas present from my parents (ever had a 14 year old kid tell you that his £799 present isn't working ), plus the wait of getting a new keyboard is not something I'll look forward to. Thanks again Bobby

Also, to answer the questions
No, the buttons don't work from power on. They don't start working again either.
The room is a tad cold, but i'm not sure if this is the cause.
The soft key that is not working is a little disturbing, as this is the soft key that i need for recording and using the sequencer.

Merry Christmas to you too Bobby Cor - a Fusion for Xmas at 14!!! In my day, that's like *my* parents buying me an entire keys/synth rig which apart from costing about $15,000 back then (probably $50,000 or more by today's standards!) would have caused me to uncontrollably wet myself!!!! You're a lucky lad! But.... whatever.... You do appear to have a hardware problem with your Fusion - like some ribbon cable from the main board to the control panel PCB is defective or there is a problem with the control panel PCB... or something. Get it replaced! Bollox to the 14-yr-old kid/Xmas present thing - you're a valid customer with the same consumer rights as anyone else! If in doubt, get your dad to sort it out - he presumably paid for it and he enjoys many rights under consumer law to have the problem rectified. It's probably no consolation but Father Christmas brought something for our 10-yr-old daughter last night that was defective and we have to sort that out come the 27th. Pain in the arse? You bet but.... life in the modern world I'm afraid. In the meantime, do nothing - don't download anything for it or hook it up to your PC and go dicking around with anything that could cause damage - leave it 'as is' from the carton and play with what you can just to get a feel for it. Hopefully the problem will be resolved quickly and you'll be a happy bunny. I am just coming to terms with the fact that Santa brought you such a fabulous gift... at your age, that would be like me finding a Moog Modular under the tree Be patient ... sort it out! Steve
