He was such an essential part of my teens and 20's. A man of intelligence and wit. When he appeared on the Daily Show last year he said that he believed that there had to be some sort of intelligent design behind the universe because it had a sense of humor. "How else do explain giraffes, hippopotomi, and the clap?"
How indeed.
Thanks for all of the classic books and a different way to look at the world.

Yes! A great man indeed. I have been "un-stuck in time" just like Billy Pilgrim many times. Have you been to Tralfamador lately? Or, have you applied your latent talents of "Dynamo-Psychism" to throw 50 concecutive 7's in craps and destroy all of the worlds armiments to instill world peace in one big tele-kinetic swoop? A great man indeed. He will be missed.
(note) When I was studying computer animation at the PRATT Institute in Greenwich Village, I used to see Mr. Vonnegut at a corner table of the coffee shop in the morning reading the New York Times. I never approached him though. I was scared, I didn't know what to say to him.
