My wife bought me a new synth for my birthday! After several years, she remembered me lusting for this and found one in Ebay. In this situation do you tell her that the VA engine in the Fusion is superior in many ways? No. It is exactly what I always wanted. Note to equipment manufactures... If you want women to remember the names of your products so that they will buy them for their husbands and boyfriends, give them names. Don't call it an XYZ-9000. Letters and numbers=bad. Name=good.

Sweet. I just ordered a Roland VariOS from Musician's Friend; it was a deal too good to pass up. And just when I thought I didn't need any more toys......

My wife bought me a new synth for my birthday! That Iffer's a good woman Note to equipment manufactures... If you want women to remember the names of your products so that they will buy them for their husbands and boyfriends, give them names. Don't call it an XYZ-9000. Letters and numbers=bad. Name=good. True enough. The current Mrs Sun knows MiniMoog, Prophet, Fusion and other named synths .... but S5000, MPC blah blah blah and DPS24 are still a mystery to her despite the rigorous training regimes in place here I tried the same thing myself, hedging for an Ion but all I got was this: Wimmin eh? Can't live with 'em ... can't shoot 'em either!!! Steve

You are correct Steve. 'Iffer is an incredible person. But the quote as I recall was, "Women. You can't live with them, and you can't live wiff 'em." Of course this was from the same guy who used to say, " Don't count your chickens before they rip your lips off."
That is just as true today as it was 30 years ago.
Synth names. Lil' Phatty= gag! They missed the boat soooo far on this one. Why in the world didn't they just call it Bob? Maybe a future "special" edition LP Bob model with end checks made out of 600 year old South American hardwood that was harvested on the autumnal equinox and an blessed by Buddhist monks during a total eclipse of the sun?

Presumably it'd contain special wires which only work in one direction, to satisfy the audiophile crowd...?
