Is it just me or has it now been a very long time since we all had an official Hollow Sun release? By this I obviously do not mean to point a finger at the Hollow Sun guys themselves (they truly can do no wrong) but I know that Alesis are the ones who commission an official release. We were all disappointed to hear when Alesis announced no more new feature support etc. for the Fusion, but I'm pretty sure they also said there would be continued support for new sounds . . . of which there have not been any since October last year! Have Alesis now dropped this form of support as well?

As I understand it Alesis never "announced" anything about no future features. there was an e-mail that someone put up elsewhere that said there were no current plans for new features. Perhaps a subtle distinction, but it does not mean the same thing.

I consider 10 official soundbanks available free of charge absolutely STELLAR support. I can't think of one single other synth manufacturer who has done this. And the quality is tremendous.
Even if the frequency were to drop to a bank every 6 months or every year, this would still trounce what you could expect from anyone else, for any other keyboard.
I think we are incredibly lucky.
Or of course you could be a Roland owner and expect to pay upwards of $250 for each SRX board (And you have, what, 2 expansion slots available?)

If you want some new sounds why not purchase some audio sampling CD's, that's a pretty inexpensive solution plus you would get pretty good at sampling. The other more expensive way is to purchase some sample CD's for Akai and use the Fusion converter. This is before using the other synth engines for sound creation. The good thing is you did not buy just a Rom player.

Greetings all Fusioneers,
It has been a very long time since an official Hollow Sun release. There are many reasons for this. First of all it has been a very busy time for us coming to the 2006 year end. Secondly, each new release takes a little longer than the last. This is because we strive to always produce sounds that are of the highest quality. We could just whip out a bank of mediocre sounds; but that wouldn’t be right. We feel that each new released must match the quality of the last.
The good news is that there is work in progress. Please be patient; it will be worth it I assure you.
Best regards,
Dan

The good news is that there is work in progress. You've hired the Turtle Island String Quartet and are working on that string library I've been pining for? Great! ;D Sorry, couldn't resist! Keep up the great work!

Thanks very much Dan . . . that is just the kind of reply I was hoping for . . .
I feel that other people thought I may have been complaining . . . but not at all . . . I am just hungry for some more superb sounds!
Cheers . . .
;D ;D ;D

;)I'm really looking forward to the sounds as well.
the Hollow Sun gang and their sound development is really the largest impetus as to why I bought this instrument!!!
Cheers!

As far as I recall, Alesis only mentioned that the focus at this moment was on fixing bugs - they never said there would be no new features.

As far as I recall, Alesis only mentioned that the focus at this moment was on fixing bugs - they never said there would be no new features. This is exactly correct. Nobody "announced" anything of the kind. Guy is 100% right. The focus was to be one bugs and that no new features where planned at the moment. This was taken by some to mean more than it actually does in literal English.

Oh dear . . . more people taking my words the wrong way! Well I will put a stop to this by apologising and agreeing that support for new features has maybe only stopped for the foreseeable future . . . Not only that, but my original point was actually about official Hollow Sun sounds, and to that I got a very satisfactory answer. I am also not really that bothered about extra features anyway . . . the Fusion is packed with amazing stuff already . . . probably much more than I will ever get to use!

Oh dear . . . more people taking my words the wrong way! Don't worry about it - it happens. It's all too easy for plain text on a forum to be read the wrong way - and therein lies many of the problems on forums... comes with the territory I think. ... the Fusion is packed with amazing stuff already . . . probably much more than I will ever get to use! That much is true. I'd like to think we at 'Chez HS' have maybe given Fusion's sonic possibilities more of a spanking than most but even we're just scratching the surface. I have yet to get into any serious work with mod matrix tables for example (I defer with humility to Mr Falcon with regard to that!) and there's a lot more to enthrall just yet so personally, I couldn't give a toss if nothing new is introduced. I have a wish-list of course just like everyone else but I have more than enough to be going on with for now. Perhaps in 2057 I'll be giving Alesis a hard time for new features Steve

Speaking of Hollow Sun - and all of the AMAZING sounds they have given us - does the future see the possibility of a true orchestral sound set??
Or, can someone suggest a compatable (reasonably priced) sample/soundfont set???
