I can't find the link to change my forum preferences. Presently, the newest posts are sort of scattered about within the oldest posts and all I want to do is have the newest posts appear at the top of each forums' thread list.

..... all I want to do is have the newest posts appear at the top of each forums' thread list. Hmmm - that should happen automatically (it is here and I didn't change anything - in fact, not sure there such a pref!). The posts within a thread are always first post down with the latest at the end/bottom but the threads should appear in date order as new posts are added. Steve

I got confused by that too; then I remembered that some threads will be marked sticky, and they'll generally have dates off in history somewhere. (ok, so "history" here is only a week, but you know what I mean )

Steve Of course that happens, but the thread queue, or list of threads in each section or forum, when a thread has a new post in it that thread should jump to the top of the thread list like in all other forums I've ever encountered. In this forum it doesn't as if there's a preference setting that says "do not order threads by new posts" or, another way of putting it "keep threads in the order they first appeared despite new posts".

In this forum it doesn't as if there's a preference setting that says "do not order threads by new posts" or, another way of putting it "keep threads in the order they first appeared despite new posts". I think I know what you mean now! When you start a new thread, that is automatically placed at the top of the thread list (directly under any 'stickies'). If another thread is posted after that, it will go to the top of the tree as will another and do on. However..... If you post a message to one of the earlier threads, that message won't bump that thread to the top of the tree (unfortunately) - the thread will stay where it is in the hierarchy but on the main page, it will show that a new post has been received. I know of no setting that overcomes this. I usually check any new posts by looking at the 25 most recent posts linked to at the bottom of the home page. You can see all the messages there (including the message itself) and you can skip through those - if one interests you, you can reply then and there or there are links to take you to the thread. Not sure there's much to be done about it - it seems to the nature of the way the board is structured. Steve

If you post a message to a thread, that thread DOES get bumped up to the top (under any 'stickies'). So now I am not sure what you're referring to! Steve

Hmmmmm... Perhaps it's because I'm woefully unrested lately, but after cruising the the various forum areas here, I think I've figured out what's going on: It's that bloody "new" tag! If I don't view a thread, that "new" tag stays there until I look at the thread, so what I see is "new" peppered all over the place. It's a forum idiom I'll have to adjust to. Gladly, of course.

It will be nice to be able to check all the thread you've posted in, and only those ones. With this "view your threads" option, navigation in the forum should be easier.

You can do this in your PROFILE. About halfway down, you can view all your posts (and you can set the number you want to view). Steve
