Now that I have this wonderful instrument, I would like to be able to hear the best sound out of it as possible. The problem is that not everyone in my house feels the same way.
I was wondering if you all could give me some advice on which would be the best headphones to listen to my Fusion, especially the piano sounds.
Thanks, DM

AKG K240 Studios are comfortable and accurate (the world's radio studios have made them a defacto standard) I really love mineExpect to pay around £/$ 75-ish.
Senheiser HD600s are open spacious and fabuoulous hifi/pro headphones, but proabably you can expect to double the price of the AKGs.
Avoid the trap of cheap cans, they often provide an over-blown inaccurate bass boosted and harsh treble and will be uncomfortable after a short period of wearing.
hope this helps

I'll second the K240 recommendation. I've been using them for a long time and they're great. Still using my original set which has lasted me over 10 years.

I have the K240's and Sony's MDR7506 for a few years now. I always prefered the MDR's to the K240s.. I was due for a new pair (Had the MDR's since 96 or so.) but tried out the beyer dynamic DT770's through a strong urging of a fellow musician. I must say, I now LOVE the DT770's. I just A/B'd the K240 with the DT770 on the Holy Grail Piano (just turning on the arp) .. I used my headphone mixer to get both at an equal volume so that loudness didn't affect my sound check. To my ears, you hear alot more definition to the sound with the beyerdynamic than the AKG. If you have a sound shop near by that has both sets, I'd go A/B them yourself on a piano type synth there. Now, the AKG's block almost no outside sound while listening thru them, but the beyer's black a LOT of outside sound..so it really depends on your listening needs. When I put on headphones, I want to hear details of the sound..for normal monitoring, I just use my monitors. So, for headphones to block outside noise, I love it. the DT770's also are extra confortable as well. The MDR's hurt my ears after a while, but teh beyers seem to stay comfortable for quite a long time. I would say the AKG's are slightly more comfortable than the beyers though..but I've never had the AKG's on for an extended amount of time. I usually let my guitarist use those while I used the Sony's..(but now the beyers ) Gary

Thanks for all your replies. Gary said: To my ears, you hear alot more definition to the sound with the beyerdynamic than the AKG. |
I think I will try the Beyerdynamic. It seems that they would be good for the low bass sounds also. DM
