Does anyone have their current issue and does anyone load sounds off their cd into the fusion? If so I need to know how.
Thank You

Please don't! You don't even have your Fusion yet and you're looking at ways to screw it!! No - seriously!THE biggest source of user-related problems has been from them messing with the contents of their HD without knowing exactly what they're doing. With respect, it's like a total computer newbie dicking around with their PC's BIOS and then wondering why it doesn't work! There are HUNDREDS of sounds pre-installed in Fusion. I suggest you go through those first and get a feel for Fusion, how she works (and make sure she's all working ok) before embarking on importing soundfonts and other files (possibly of dodgy provenance!) onto her HD. Not trying to be a killjoy here but I've had over two years of watching people unpack their Fusions, shove a load of crap on their drives and then wonder why they're getting error messages everywhere!!! You know it makes sense! Steve

i apprecieate the concern steve and will def. listen to your advice... though while i have your attention i gotta ask a few ?'s 1)you make it sound as though it's complicated to put sound fonts, multisamples or anyother "instruments" into her... is that so? why is it such a mess? 2)is it worth getting the fusion pro converter? does it make it much easier to import sound fonts and akai samples? i'm just really excited to turn this board on it's head with all the great sounds out there. especially that nebula! so i anxiously await your reply and i will try to be patient b4 throwing all the sounds in... p.s. my a.d.d. prevents me from calming down so please be understanding of my nerotic ways.

(1) Most important: Before messing with the contents ALWAYS make a backup by copying the WHOLE Fusion harddisk contents onto your computers harddisk ! (2) Test your Fusion before adding sounds. Otherwise you can't be sure if problems are hardware related should they arise.
I think the main source of problems is that the content on the Fusion HD is referencing other content in other directories/folders. A constructed example:
Programs/MyProg/SweepPad uses Multisamples/MyProg/ThickSampled
So when you change the directory name "MyProg" in "Multisamples", it will not be found anymore by "SweepPad" in "MyProg".
Chances are good not to screw it up if you have a "Volume" folder to be copied onto the fusion. Because this contains the appropriate structure (Sample, Multisample and so on) all stuff will go where it belongs to.
I hope this wasn't too technically.

you make it sound as though it's complicated to put sound fonts, multisamples or anyother "instruments" into her... is that so? why is it such a mess? Why assume it's "a mess"? Fusion has a strict filing system and it can be a bit complicated and unless you know what you're doing, things can go wrong ... or if you're a bit hasty, things can go wrong ... as they did for me yesterday. As for soundfonts, I'm sorry but I associate them with dodginess - illegally created by 14-yr-olds uploaded to dodgy websites that are under threat of closure almost every day for hosting illegal soundfont conversions of copyrighted material (including mine). They are also often prone to errors and of dubious quality and I for one would be loathe to just arbitrarily throw them at Fusion. 2)is it worth getting the fusion pro converter? does it make it much easier to import sound fonts and akai samples? Not to my knowledge. It simply allows you to convert more formats. i'm just really excited to turn this board on it's head with all the great sounds out there. But you don't know what great sounds it already has. I suggest you sit down and discover those first. I sense your excitement - which is great - but consider this: If you were buying a new car, what's the first thing you'd do with it. Take it out for a good drive..... Or open up the hood/bonnet and start buggering about with an engine you have never seen before and have no experience of, possibly damaging your new toy in the process?! You do as you wish when she arrives but as I say, I've had two years of witnessing impetuous young things screwing their Fusions up by lobbing the world's supply of soundfonts at her. I am simply suggesting you sit down with her, get a feel for her, make sure she's all ok, check out the hundreds of sounds she comes with and THEN, when you're a bit more comfortable with her, consider adding a few new sounds. If that works out, maybe add a few more. Steve

It strikes me funny how many users (newbies) profess their 'technical' prowess and abilities with atheletic and gymnastic qualities. More muscle, more speed and more sounds. I guess this philosophy maintains one's sense of 'aerobic sophistication' and superiority in an imperialistic way. A million sounds or a more powerful synthesizer in NOT going to make you a better musician or composer. It will just make you a preoccupied librarian.
e.g. "My camera has more megapixels therefore I'm a better photographer and my camera is better". YIKES!
sometimes less is more...

. . .It will just make you a preoccupied librarian. I heard That!!!! And besides all the great sounds already in the Fusion, KPR, V-Stream, and the great and powerful HollowSun, have given us "tweekers" years of great and trustworthy toys to fool around with. I'm finding that my "Favorites" folders are ending up with almost EVERYTHING in them !!!! kev

'aerobic sophistication' ... i hope i'm not comming off this way. it's not that i need a gazillion sounds it's just that i know what i like and the fusion is the path of wich i am hoping to achieve such results... after having the unfortuantle luck of realizing that not all workstations are for everyone (i had a triton and hated the sound while owning several other "cheaper" boards that sounded like fine wine) i feel i finally have a path to ensure that the sound i am looking for will always be there (by use of adding some of the massive library i already have from the last 10 years of sampling i have done). obviously i will take a few weeks to wrap my head around the os and how it speaks to me, but i'm really more interested in shaping my own sounds by mixing the synth engins with my own samples and other sample libraries out there. an come on after hearing nebulae and the mellotron kits that hollow sun has made how could i not be looking forward to that with stary eyes lol...

If you dig Mellotron check out Hollow Sun freepack #9. I believe program 3? Wowie Zowie! By far the best Tron in town. I used it in Cleveland (House of Blues) and two kids came up to me after the show and told me that my Mellotron sounded great. I said, "it's not a Mellotron it's an Alesis Fusion". With confused looks on their faces they said "Yeah Yeah Yeah, but when you played the Mellotron...". I said again, "it's an Alesis Fusion". Then one kid said as I was leaving, "I didn't know that they were making Mellotrons again". I screamed "FUSION!" as I ran out the door... shame the uninitiated will never know the Fusion. Indeed, an incredible patch. It seems that the ole' Mellotron will never die.

If you dig Mellotron check out Hollow Sun freepack #9. I believe program 3? Do you mean #17? #09 is Kawai K5000 - #17 has the (rare) 16 violins and indeed, it is a bit spiffy. I said, "it's an Alesis Fusion". I still hear it (or samples) used on tons of today's records albeit some rather unimaginative 'Strawberry Fields' style flutes rather than soaring strings or bombastic Gothic choirs. Long live the Tron, the king of keys! Steve

Excellent! I am glad to hear you're taking it carefully and it's all working out p.s. have not approached that fusion converter yet... looks like it may confuse me. It's not rocket science ... and a lot depends on the source material you're converting. But one step at a time. Steve
