hey this is flux out of Delaware... just ordered a refurbished 8hd off of ebay from deal monger (hopefully that is an ok idea after reading how many bugged out boards have been shipped back to alesis lately) anyway just wanted to say hi. i'll be using the board to replace my micron and have it sequenced by my mpc 2kxl.... so hit me up if you have any ideas... oh btw is there anyway to upgrade a 40g to the 80gb hd? is it worth it?

Don't be too quick to get rid of that Micron; I still have mine, and I find it complements the Fusion nicely.
Regarding the hard drive upgrade: Yes there is, at the cost of your warranty; and no, probably not.

eh i had to sell the micron to get up money for the fusion.. loved that micron to death! but i really needed some bread an butter sounds along with more versatility in the studio and the fusion looks to be exactly that. has anyone found the stcok ram limiting in anyway? is that an upgrade i should consider? i wonder about it cause i don't wanna see the e3 board go OOP and not be able to get one.

People have found the stock RAM to be a limit, yes, so if you're going to be using a lot of sampled sounds the E3 may well be worth getting. On the other hand, my main interest in the Fusion is as a synth, not a sample player, so I'm quite happy with the stock RAM (in fact, I probably underutilise it).

If you are looking for super realistic saxes and trumpets, maybe look some where else. The Fusion excels at being an electronic sound maker. As Steve said it is an electronic music studio.

got it yesterday, took less than an hour to wrap my head around the interface and understand how to build new sounds on it (amazing! love the structure!) i had never actually touched or seen a fusion in person b4 but i was conserned by the pic of how basic the screen looked... man was i wrong the simplistic screen is a joy over the overly complicated workstations i've had b4. love the sounds...

Hi, all. Something mps said surprises me - shouldn't the Fusion be able to produce acoustic sounds as or more realistic than most any other synth, given the right samples or programming? (Sorry, I mean compared to other standalone synths, DAWs are a different story since they have practically unlimited sample size.) I'm thinking of buying a Fusion, but I'd definitely want to have access to realistic orchestral sounds onboard, even if I'd have to do some tweaking myself. Another pre-purchase question while you're here - can anyone describe how the keyboard feel of the 8HD compares to these keyboards: QS8, RD-300SX, and Kawai MP9000? I know it's hard to describe a feel, but here in NYC neither Guitar Center nor Sam Ash has Fusions in stock, nor have I been able to find one anywhere else to preview. Every review I've read has said it has a very nice action, though. Thanks, Doug

Someone on the board recently brought something to my attention that I thought would be best to explain before making myself look much worse. I have a propensity to not spell nor grammar check, not capitalize I in sentences and generally use a sorely disrespectful (to the English language) form of typing... some of it I will admit is just out of sheer habit. some of it is due to me just not caring.... and a good portion is due to a learning disability that tends to make my head think quicker than my body tends to react.... I will do my best to keep an eye on this but please be for warned i am not going to be anywhere near perfect. thanks.
