Dan Fisher is in my IMHO a terrific programmer .Even though this is a Fusion forum a really good example of his work is The Dark Side of the Moon patch he did for the Kurzweil K-series. Hopefully he will do some more for the Fusion {As well as Hollow Sun}

I have the sounds. I got my Fusion from Sweetwater before they offered them, but was able to purchase them after the fact.
As far as the sounds themselves go, some of them are pretty good (like the guitar samples), some of them are REALLY good (I like some of the samples from the drumkit a lot), but some of them (IMHO) don't really add much to what the Fusion offers already (especially if you know how to tweak sounds yourself). Other than the drum samples, I don't really use them much.
The previous posters were correct in saying that other than the tweaked Holy Grail, it's an entirely new set of samples on which these sounds are based. The tweaked HG piano is pretty good (better than the original IMHO), but I don't use it very much because I'd already made my own version of the HG that is exactly what I want out of a piano sound.
As far as Sweetwater itself goes, there's more to a dealer than the lowest price (though I think that places like Wal-Mart have fooled people). The reason places like Guitar Center and some of the other super-cheap online places are that way is that they make their money elsewhere - by offering abysmal customer service and paying their employees the lowest wage possible.
Sweetwater may not be the cheapest place, but they offer awesome customer service (I have ONE guy that I go to that knows my gear, knows what kind of music I like to play, and knows my level of technical understanding of the gear itself) and helps me out. They offer services other than sales (repair, education, and other things), and their catalog is a wealth of technical information. That's why they cost more.
If you want to be talked down to by a 17 year old pot head that doesn't know anything about synths beyond how to change patches in a Triton LE and is nothing more than a glorified cashier, by all means, go to a place like Guitar Center. But if you want to build a relationship with a sales person that is in it for the love of the gear, go to a place like sweetwater (or another specialty shop). Customer service and those extra "perks" (like the free Sounds) cost money, and has to be figured into the bottom line somehow.

The Sweetwater addition has some amazing drum samples. I find these to be as good as any that I've ever used. They have an excellent guitar set also. I don't know Dan Fisher, but, his work is very good and his name is going to stay in my brain.

Ditto on Sweetwater customer service. I'm doing almost all of my musical purchases thru them, instead of the Sam Ash that is literally around the corner.

I don't know Dan Fisher, but, his work is very good and his name is going to stay in my brain. I do know Dan and he's a great bloke. He fell in love with the Kurzweil when it was first released and created a large library for it. When he saw/used Fusion, he could see many similarities in the 'vast' (!!) possibilities and so converted a lot of his Kurzweil stuff to fusion. Dan has quite possibly single-handedly flown the flag for Fusion in the US and was very successful with it too. Oh - and welcome to The Club, Cliff.

How can I get this soundset in a legal way? I bought a used Fusion 8HD more than a year ago... I don't know if you can. Your best bet would be to contact Sweetwater and see if they'd be willing to sell it. The last I heard, they weren't offering it seperately, but you never know now.

I inquired when I purchased my E3 memory upgrade, and they informed me that they could not include that in the purchase, as it only existed as an ISO image of the Sweetwater Edition Fusion hard drive. Supposedly Dan did not save it as a file for upload/download. Someone needs to take the boy out & get him drunk....

I talked to my guy at Sweetwater last week about getting their CD, and he said it was possible, and that Dan was thinking of charging around $40 for it (don't take my word on that- it might be more now). I didn't have to go that route - but have hope, it is possible!
With the image, I was going to back up my Fusion's HD, dump the CD onto it, and then I could put back anything that I needed from the back up.

ll then that will never happen as "Sweetwater' is the most $OVERPRICED$ musical supply company in the world. They wanted $10,000 for my Kurzweil which I bought for $2500.00 USD. They probably 'tweeked' the Fusion patches in the warehouse on Sunday afternoon to 'grease' the BOSS for a raise. 'MONSTER' cables anyone? Sweetwater is selling the Fusion 8 for $899 and it comes with the Sweetwater sounds free and a memory upgrade for free.

The fusion is absolutely the best keyboard out there folks, When llistening to the stunning sounds, mixed with the 8 track recorder, and then add the Hard drive and sampling abilities, price and quality it is heads above competition, I'm glad that I was able to get mine at a great deal with the sweetwater sounds, and the Hollow Sun sounds really kick this thing into another gear. anyone able to get one of these new before they sell completely out should jump and try like crazy to get it. I tried the new Roland flagship at guitar center the other day, and I'm telling you it does not sound close.

I have probably posted this everywhere now, but, the fusion is absolutely the best keyboard out there, test it's sounds against any other, you'll see what I mean. The Sweetwater sounds adds to it as well as the Hollow Sun sounds. Best bargain that I've ever got.

I just e-mailed Sweetwater and they said that they don't sell this package separately from the keyboards...
