What equipment can the S5/6000 version of 'Nebulae' be installed on - Fantom, Motif, Fusion? I ask because I would like to purchase the pack, but want to be able to use it on a couple of boards including my Fusion, but don't want to have to take my Fusion everywhere. Is it convertible? Yes. And no! For some reason, the other manufacturers are living in a time warp and only support the old Akai S1/3000 formats. Dunno why - the S5/6000 format is widely available and easier to support But even if they DID support S5/6000, there'd be issues. For a start, load times. I have heard that they can take like an hour to load up a bunch of samples! Even for more modest loads (a few MB), they can take many minutes. They don't support positional crossfade and 'butt-end' the keygroups, adversely affecting the sound. 'Nebulae' uses positional crossfades extensively. And although Fusion doesn't allow positional crossfades directly (more's the pity!), the Fusion Convertor 'renders' an overlap and generates a new multisample for the overlapping region thus retaining the sound. Also, loops. These other manufacturers don't appear to adhere to the normal conventions for looping and I have heard some horrific audio examples of seamlessly looped samples of mine played in these keyboards, clicking and glitching furiously! To be honest, I think you'd be better off asking in the Fantom or Motif forums ('Fantomized' and 'Motifator' as I recall). Fusion Convertor does a bloody good job. Key mapping is usually spot on and the amp envelope is preserved but there is still a lot of work required in Fusion itself to knock 'em into shape. As an example, it took me around 30 minutes to convert 'Nebulae' from S5000 to Fusion.... It then took Dan and I several months to refine them in Fusion to our liking!!!! Draw your own conclusions! Steve

Steve,
Conclusions drawn. Fusion version purchased. Great guidance, as always. I also appreciated your recent reply to a post of someone wanting to install some patches from the "MusicTech" mag, and your urging them to not screw up their board with rogue junk.
With the little bit of confidence I have mustered with my Fusion, I confess I had begun loading ridiculous crapola that I will never use in any compositions. I will be deleting them tonight.
Sorry to hear about your HD, too. Wish I could help, as much as you help us.
Cheers, Hooj

I was wondering if you were planning on fusion specific versions of your other collections (the s5000/s6000 libraries) with fusion specific controls as you have done with your nebulae?

No real need. You already have the Yamaha CP70 and the Trons and the bulk of the rest is either in 'Nebulae' or the free Alesis downloads or the FreePacks plus other stuff as well.

Hi Steve, I received Nebulae Fusion Edition yesterday. Great sounds, really amazing, thank you very much . Thanks a lot also for all the free Fusion sounds on the Hollow Sun website. They were one of the reasons for me to buy a Fusion. Greetings from Germany Ralf
