If all goes according to plan I will be acquiring this for restoration... If I can get it working well enough I plan to work on sampling it for the Fusion.

Nice, but what is it besides dirty That was a tantalizing hint. It is dirty and it doesn't even work, it is 850 miles from my house, but it is being given to me. Can't beat the price. Now if I can just get it here and fix it...

Heh, a mellotron, that would be nice. My first impression was 'home organ', but jugded by the straight controls (from what's visible in the picture anyway) it could as well be something else. A string ensemble?

I think it is a Philips organ. Maybe a Philicorda or something like that. My parents also have one but a different model. Found it! It's a Philicorda 760: Am i right??!!! If you want to know more about it go here: www.pbase.com/markus/philicorda_760&page=1

GM 760. You are correct sir! I wish it were in as nice a shape as the one on that site.

Great that you have a Philicorda now! It´s one of the famous "Weltraum Orgel" types and pretty popular in the late 60ies for living room owners who couldn´t afford a Hammond. The sound is very special, I like that very much. There is a german cabaret guy named Hans Dieter Hüsch who always used the Philicorda for his performance (he had the single manual version). Good luck getting this beast back to fully functional!
Cheers

Thanks Klaus, I will need luck since it may be in pretty bad shape. Almost all of the bass pedals are broken off and it did not make a sound the last time someone tried to play it. I was hoping to find a GM 751 but they are very rare in the states. I could find one in Europe but fear that shipping would be too expensive. If anybody sees one, let me know.

Paint it white and tell everyone it's a rare Mellotron.

Any ideas if a Philicorda will ever get some kind of 'cult status'? I mean, my parents have a Philicorda - worth keeping?
