I have a ?? about the sequencer... Can you chain songs - fake pattern style? I'm about to buy a Fusion 6 but I gotta have a workable sequencer. I just sold a K2vx... Any similarities?

I have a question about the sequencer... Can you chain songs - fake pattern style? No. I'm about to buy a Fusion 6 but I gotta have a workable sequencer. I just sold a K2vx... Any similarities? I've never used a Kurz so I couldn't answer that one for you. If you must have pattern sequencing, the Fusion is probably not for you.

Can you chain songs. The Kurzweil was just a song sequencer but I could chain songs & make it act like a pattern sequencer. Is this possible? Like if I make song 1 # run it into song 2 & so on...

No, you can't do that. However, what you can do is set loop points on the song, and change those loop points on the fly. So if you have, say, five 8-bar sections, you can set the loop points to 1.0.0 and 9.0.0 to start with, then let it repeat for as long as you desire; and then bump up the end point to 17.0.0, let the sequencer get past 9.0.0, and then set the start point to 9.0.0. You have to be a bit precise, and if you sweep the end point of the loop across the current song position you end up bouncing the current position - but it's one thing that can be done.

You have got to be kidding! That sounds like a lot of work... I have multiple breaks in my songs... What you're saying is... I can't make 4 or 5 4 bar songs & chain them together???

Yep, that's what I'm saying. As Roberto said, if that's a dealbreaker then don't buy a Fusion for its sequencer.

listen, having an 'independant' sequencer these days is paramount. Get an old crappy computer or laptop and buy CUBASE SE3, I think its only $150.00. When you hook it up to your Fusion wow wow wow. I create MIDI files on my laptop and either play them on my VST based computer or play them on my live rack for performances or the Alesis Fusion. Fun Fun Fun till daddy takes the keyboard away! Although, if you work musically in a 'linear' fashion as I do most of the time. The Fusion will take care of all your needs and desires. No problema, TACO! Take a MIX and try GENERATE to SONG. Its fast and you can layer many times on top. Too much fun. Don't be a pussy. There are NO problems, only solutions... DON'T BE A PUSSY!

jpvideo - - thanx 4 the hot tip. I'm new to the PC sequencing. I've done the MPC/ASR/Kurzweil thing but now I have FL Studio 7... Any tips on that? I got the Fusion to get around all that but I guess I'd better get in & get some help working this thing... tell me what I need to know!

Oh yes, you can have lots and lots of songs. It's just that you can't tell the Fusion to segue smoothly from one to the next without stopping.

O.K. I have the Fusion sitting in front of me... I love the sounds but I still don't get this sequencer. I didn't get a manual w/ it either. I think I'm going to do the FL7 or try 2 find a copy of Cubase for the sequencer. I love this board though! Can I get some tips from anyone - maybe some links to some visual tricks that have been posted... anything would help right now.

You can download a PDF manual and quickstart on this page... www.alesis.com/index.php?id=56,30,0,0,1,0 If you look on the Clubs home page there is a section called "official Fusion links" that takes you to a place where you can download some tutorial information that I highly recommend.

Steinberg is very strict against pirating. Also, you would need a physical 'dongle' (Ilok) to run it anyway (unless your a 'hacker). Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

what do u mean? find a 'copy' of CUBASE? The boxed sets one buys of software packages (even those whose distributors have staunch anti-piracy policies) are generally referred to as "copies".
